Where Winds Meet Masked Troupe: How to Join

The current Global route starts with Han Yanluo in Kaifeng Fairgrounds and must be completed in Online Mode. Use this page to choose the permanent route, make performance likes count, and translate older Liyuan instructions without following stale controls.

At level 10, track The Masked Troupe clue, enter Online Mode, and find Han Yanluo on the small boat west of the central temple in Fairgrounds. Start the initiation, perform from Emotes > Talents, collect the number of likes shown by your live quest, then return to Han Yanluo.

Older Liyuan guides say F2 and 10 different-player likes. Those details explain old screenshots and search terms, but they do not override your current control layout or quest counter.

Follow Han Yanluo from the Sect clue to the final conversation.

Reach level 10 and open the Sect clue
The Masked Troupe clue becomes relevant from level 10. Track it from the Sect screen before traveling so the correct NPC and objective state load.

Switch to Online Mode
The direct initiation is an Online Mode quest. If you stay in Solo Mode, Han Yanluo or the performance step can appear inactive even when you are standing in the right area.

Go to Fairgrounds in Kaifeng
Find Han Yanluo on a small boat west of the central temple. Older Chinese guides describe the wider area as Goulan Washi by the river.

Speak to Han Yanluo twice
The first conversation can use any available answer. Speak again and choose the willing-to-join response to start Initiation: Masked Troupe.

Open Emotes, then Talents
Choose an instrument performance or Dance Now. Do not rely on an old F2 shortcut: keybinds and platform controls differ, while the Emotes > Talents path describes the actual menu location.

Collect the number of likes shown by your quest
Perform in front of other players and keep the initiation tracked. Petalfall Crossing is a current crowd suggestion. If you play an instrument, stop the performance once to let the objective refresh.

Return to Han Yanluo
Once the tracker marks the performance objective complete, return to the same boat and speak to Han Yanluo again to finish joining.

Make the quest counter move before asking for more likes.

My quest says 5, but an old guide says 10

Trust the number in the live quest tracker. The older Liyuan route documented 10 different-player likes; the current English route no longer gives one permanent number in its written guide.

A like appears, but the counter stays unchanged

Confirm Online Mode and that Initiation: Masked Troupe is tracked. For instrument performances, stop or exit the performance before checking the tracker again.

The same friend keeps liking, but progress stops

Use different players. The older route explicitly counted different people, so repeated approvals from one account are a poor test when the counter is stuck.

Nobody is nearby

Move to an active Online room or Petalfall Crossing, perform near a visible group, and ask in Nearby chat for the remaining quest likes.

I cannot find piano, dance, or the old F2 menu

Open Emotes and select the Talents category. Use an available instrument or Dance Now; the old PC shortcut is not the reliable cross-platform instruction.

The objective looks complete, but nothing happens

End the performance, wait for the quest text to update, then return to Han Yanluo. Joining does not complete automatically at the final like.

Invitation Letter fallback

Use Beginner - Music Contest only when the old letter already exists.

Show of Splendor belonged to the Sect's launch window. A missing event page or letter is not a blocker to joining; switch to the direct Han Yanluo route.

This route was tied to the Show of Splendor launch window. Use it only when the letter is already claimable or present; the direct Han Yanluo route does not require it.

Track Beginner - Music Contest
Claiming the letter should add the quest. If no quest appears and the event page is absent, stop chasing the old event and use the direct route.

Follow the marker to Crimson Cliff
Present the letter to Weeping Makeup, found on a rock near a pond at the marked location.

Choose Come three times
Complete the repeated dialogue sequence to finish the invitation route and join The Masked Troupe.

Match the fix to the last checkpoint that actually completed.

The Masked Troupe clue is missing

Reach level 10, open the Sect screen, and confirm that you are not following an old event-only instruction. Track the direct joining clue before going to Fairgrounds.

Han Yanluo is not on the boat

Check that you are in Kaifeng Fairgrounds, west of the central temple, and in Online Mode. Re-track the Sect clue if the boat has no quest state.

Han Yanluo keeps repeating the first conversation

Finish the first dialogue, interact again, and choose the willing response. The initiation begins on the follow-up conversation, not the first greeting.

The performance step does not start

Use Emotes > Talents after the initiation is tracked. A normal chat emote or an untracked performance does not prove the quest is listening.

The like counter is stuck

Verify Online Mode, use unique players, end an instrument performance to refresh the tracker, and obey the live target rather than grinding to an old fixed number.

An old guide sends me to Chunsui or Qingshui Pavilion

Those are older crowd-location leads, not the current Global start. Begin with Han Yanluo at Fairgrounds; use Petalfall Crossing only when you need more people for likes.

I cannot obtain the Invitation Letter

Do not treat the Show of Splendor route as mandatory. It was a launch-event alternative. Use the permanent Han Yanluo initiation instead.

Han Yanluo will not accept me after the likes

Check that the initiation objective is complete, that the performance has ended, and that you are not still a member of another Sect. Only then return to the same NPC.

The current route reference records a Severance Trial that finishes after one Perception Forest match. Read the live confirmation before leaving.

Current references describe the Sect around performance, rank, reputation, voting, and cosmetics. Do not join because an old or speculative page promises an unreleased signature weapon.

Yes. Version 1.3 introduced the Sect in February 2026, and later official patches continue to reference its Virtuoso and Stage Name systems.

What level do I need for The Masked Troupe?

Reach level 10, then open the Sect clue and follow it to Fairgrounds in Kaifeng.

Do I have to use Online Mode?

Yes for the direct Han Yanluo initiation. The performance and approval step is built around other players being present.

Where is Han Yanluo?

Does the quest need 5 likes or 10 likes?

Do I need The Masked Troupe Invitation Letter?

No. The letter belongs to the launch-event Beginner - Music Contest alternative. The direct Han Yanluo route works without it.

Is Liyuan the same Sect as The Masked Troupe?

Yes for guide lookup. Liyuan is the older romanized name for 梨園 / 梨园; The Masked Troupe is the current Global English name.

What should I do immediately after joining?

Open the Sect screen, review Performer Popularity sources, set up your Stage Name and profile showcase, and check which activities count at your current rank.

How do I leave The Masked Troupe?

Use Betray Master in the Sect screen, read the confirmation, and complete the recorded Severance Trial through one Perception Forest match.
