Midnight Lodger sends five visitors to your room. Start with the bag. The six ordinary identities have small, repeatable safe-item sets. Sect visitors carry plausible items on both sides, so ask one signature question before choosing Let In or Reject.

The common Reject / Let In / Reject / Reject / Let In sequence is a speed gamble. Current players report failed runs with that exact pattern. Use it only when a quick attempt matters more than a clean result.

Event status

Sandstorm Tavern launched with a limited reward window from May 15 at 05:00 to June 5 at 04:59 (UTC+8). The official notes explicitly keep the tavern open afterward. Treat old Wine Token stages, first weekly bonuses and spending milestones as historical unless the current activity panel shows them again.

Enter Sandstorm Tavern in Online Mode
The official release requires the tavern's introductory quest and assigns you a temporary identity on entry. If the tavern is missing, switch out of Solo Mode and follow the Sandstorm Tavern introduction before looking for the mini-game.

Start a Midnight Lodger room stay
Inside the tavern, use the lodging or room-stay interaction and select Midnight Lodger. The older Chinese flow calls this Night Inn Mystery. You do not need to wait for a world sandstorm once the activity is unlocked.

Inspect every visitor before choosing
Five visitors arrive in order. Open the bag or carried-item view first. Ordinary visitors can usually be decided from their item set; Sect members and the three special visitors need a targeted question.

Use one short question, not a paragraph
Ask about the visitor's Martial Arts, medicine box, mouse, goods, letter or item provenance. Long multi-part questions can lose part of the prompt, so split a doubtful check into two short asks.

Let in only a consistent visitor
Choose Let In when identity, items and answer all agree. Choose Reject when an ordinary visitor carries the wrong set, a Sect answer contains a deliberate typo, or a special visitor gives vague provenance.

Recover from a wrong call
A wrong decision can trigger a tavern-normalized fight. Winning can keep the run alive with a lower result; losing resets the sequence. If you only want a clean perfect attempt, restart after the mistake instead of spending time on the fight.

The Escort is deliberately excluded from this quick table. His appearance, package and blade condition interact, and current player tables still flag that row as less certain. Use the special-visitor check below instead of approving him from a single item.

Reject: Doudou or another mouse name.

Reject: A typo, wrong weapon name, or an answer that avoids the Sect's combat identity.

Let in: A private or vague answer, delivered in the visitor's timid, comic style.

Reject: A specific love confession, arrogant tone or no trace of the Troupe's comic manner.

Let in: A detailed order-first delivery method and organized storage explanation; the goods are not simply in the next room.

Reject: Vague sincerity, lost-goods excuses, or 'the next room / another room' with no method.

Let in: Heavenquaker Spear and Stormbreaker Spear. A genuinely very drunk visitor may ramble but still knows the spear identity.

Reject: Wrong art names, reversed wind/thunder wording, or a generic martial answer with no spear detail.

Let in: The ordinary safe set is Coin, a clean Blade and Egg-Steamed Clams. Appearance and an intact package can change the blood-stained-blade case.

Reject: Do not approve from one item alone. A stained blade without a coherent escort story or intact package is a reject.

Let in: Brocade box, calligraphy brush or abacus with a personal explanation that mentions Lady Acca. Older text uses Hu Rong for this relationship.

Reject: A wrong gift source, cold generic answer or no connection between the writing tool and its owner.

Ask: What goods do you have, and what is their provenance?

Let in: A specific professional answer such as porcelain from a Tang-dynasty imperial kiln.

Reject: Vague expertise, inconsistent period or maker, or a story with no concrete provenance.

When to use it

Use the pattern for a quick low-attention attempt when you accept a possible restart. The older pool always placed a safe visitor fifth, and the second slot was safe often enough to create this shortcut.

When not to use it

Do not use it as a guaranteed answer list, a percentage claim or a perfect-reward promise. Current player reports include repeated failures. Manual item and Sect checks are slower but far more useful.

Fix the missing activity, bad prompt or failed visitor call.

Sandstorm Tavern does not appear

Switch to Online Mode and finish the tavern introductory quest. The May event window ended, but the official patch notes say the tavern remains permanently available.

I entered the tavern but Midnight Lodger will not start

Use the tavern's lodging interaction and begin a room stay. If you only see other activities, finish the introduction and re-enter the permanent instance before checking the menu again.

The 2nd-and-5th shortcut failed

It is a speed gamble, not an answer key. Current player reports show different success rates. Restart or switch to the item-and-question tables instead of repeating the same pattern as a guarantee.

A Sect visitor carries the right items but is still hostile

Sect members can carry plausible Sect items on both sides. Ask the signature question and watch for a deliberate typo, wrong art, wrong mouse name or wrong relationship detail.

My long question produced a useless answer

Ask one fact at a time. Start with the Martial Art, medicine box, mouse, letter, goods or provenance. Use a second question only when the first answer remains ambiguous.

The Escort has a blood-stained blade

Treat Escort as a manual check. Appearance, package condition and explanation matter together. Reject when the intact package or coherent defense story is missing.

I made a wrong decision and combat started

Win the normalized fight to continue at a lower result, or restart if you are chasing a clean run. Your ordinary build advantage may not carry into the tavern activity.

The first weekly Wine Token bonus is missing

The Wine Token stages and first-weekly-run bonus belonged to the May 15 to June 5, 2026 event. The tavern is permanent, but the current activity panel, not the old event shop, controls today's rewards.
