Can You Join Lone Cloud in Where Winds Meet?

Lone Cloud appears in the Global Sect roster but is not accepting members at the July 14 check. This page separates the live Entry Clue from the older Guyun math-test route, explains why Song Zhiwen has no prompt, and sends Strategic Sword users to the route they can complete now.

Do not chase Song Zhiwen yet: Lone Cloud is still unavailable on Global.

Selecting Lone Cloud in the Sect menu currently shows its theme and an Entry Clue about future recruitment, but it does not create an initiation quest. Song Zhiwen can exist in Kaifeng without a dialogue prompt. Reaching level 52, finishing an old chapter, or walking to the matchmaking tree does not unlock a route that the live client still marks unavailable.

Hidden Mountain does not change this answer. Its official announcement names the Mohist sect, not Lone Cloud. No official Lone Cloud release date was found in this check.

    Open the Sect screen

    Use the current client rather than a saved video. Select Lone Cloud from the Sect roster and keep the version date in mind.

    Read the Entry Clue

    If it still says the disciples are unwilling to accept recruits and only hints at a future opportunity, the route remains unavailable.

    Look for a tracked initiation quest

    A real release should create an actionable clue, quest-log entry, map destination, invitation, or enrollment prompt. Flavor text alone is not a route.

    Check Song Zhiwen only after the clue changes

    An interaction prompt matters only when the current Lone Cloud clue or tracked quest sends you there. His presence in Kaifeng does not bypass availability.

    Record the version before sharing a route

    Capture the Entry Clue, quest title, NPC prompt, and patch number together. That is enough to distinguish a real Global unlock from a CN clip or old rumor.

The fastest proof is a changed Entry Clue plus a tracked initiation quest. A map NPC, Sect shop preview, outfit name, or Strategic Sword tooltip cannot establish recruitment availability by itself.

    Unlock Skill Theft

    Complete Skill Theft: Unearned Lesson near Moonveil Peak by speaking with Qiu Yuhai. The exploration skill is what lets you learn Sect Martial Arts without joining.

    Prepare a Dragon Key

    The current Strategic Sword route uses a Dragon Key at the Loong Herm Dragon Pillar. The key is consumed when the hidden passage opens.

  3. 03

    Bring Touch of Death

    The route contains guards and the current walkthrough recommends Touch of Death, obtained from The Realm Endures, for the infiltration path.

  4. 04

    Track Strategic Sword Sanctum

    Open Develop, find Strategic Sword under Martial Arts, and use its tracking option. The sanctum is in southern Qinghe; use Back Mountain Teleporter if already unlocked.

  5. 05

    Enter from the lower side and reach the second floor

    Use the Loong Herm Dragon Pillar, follow the infiltration route, then look back from the second floor for the ledge leading to the blue Skill Theft circle.

  6. 06

    Complete the Skill Theft prompt

    Finish the timing interaction to learn Strategic Sword. Equip the Martial Art on a normal sword; Lone Cloud membership is not required for the weapon style.

I reached level 52 and Lone Cloud is still locked

That is expected. The level and Kaifeng chapter belong to the older Guyun route; they do not override a Global Entry Clue that still says recruitment is unavailable.

Song Zhiwen will not talk to me

Stop looking for a hidden dialogue prerequisite. The NPC can be seeded in the world before the recruitment quest, and current players have reported the same non-interactive state.

A guide says to finish Drunken Flowers first

Treat that as an old rumor unless your current quest log names the prerequisite and the Lone Cloud Entry Clue becomes actionable. Main-story completion alone has not established a Global route.

I need Lone Cloud to use Strategic Sword

You do not. Strategic Sword has a current Skill Theft route in Qinghe, and the Martial Art can be equipped without Sect membership.

Hidden Mountain releases Lone Cloud

The official Hidden Mountain announcement names the Mohist sect. Mohist Hill, Lone Cloud, Hollow Vale, and Inkbound Order are different entries.

I should stay Sectless until Lone Cloud opens

That is optional, not required. You can use a currently available Sect in the meantime, but read its live leaving trial or penalty before switching later.

I can join Nine Mortal Ways by failing the Lone Cloud exam

Do not rely on that old branch. Lone Cloud's exam is not active on Global, and Nine Mortal Ways already has current, direct joining routes.

Is Guyun the same Sect as Lone Cloud?

Yes for guide lookup. Guyun is a romanization of 孤雲 / 孤云, while Lone Cloud is the current Global English Sect name.

When will Lone Cloud release on Global?

No official Lone Cloud release date was found in the July 14 check. Use an official dated announcement or a changed in-game Entry Clue rather than an inferred region schedule.

Why does Lone Cloud say future opportunities may open entry?

That wording is the unavailable-state clue. It explains the Sect's theme without providing a quest, location, or enrollment action.

Why can I see Song Zhiwen but not talk to him?

The NPC can exist before his recruitment route is enabled. A missing interaction prompt is an availability signal, not proof that your level or Kaifeng story progress is wrong.

Does level 51 or 52 unlock Lone Cloud?

Not on the current Global client. Those numbers come from older Guyun route notes and should not be treated as live requirements while the Entry Clue remains locked.

Can I take the Lone Cloud math test now?

No active Global math-test route is established. The four-question paper, 72-hour timer, and Shensuan retry item belong to the older route reference.

Can I get Strategic Sword without joining Lone Cloud?

Yes. Unlock Skill Theft, enter Strategic Sword Sanctum in southern Qinghe with a Dragon Key, reach the blue Skill Theft circle, and complete the timing prompt.

Is Hidden Mountain the Lone Cloud update?

No. The official Hidden Mountain announcement specifically introduces the Mohist sect. It is not a Lone Cloud release confirmation.

Can I join another Sect while waiting for Lone Cloud?

Yes. Current Sect membership is not permanent, although only one Sect can be active at a time and leaving can involve a Sect-specific trial or consequence.
