Raging Tides is joinable now, and nine wines are only one route.

Version 1.5 opened three eligibility paths at level 10: the Northern Vow memorial, the Liangzhou gourd Encounter, or 100 wine jars. If Liangzhou is already open, use the gourd route to skip the wine counter. Otherwise, finish the traditional initiation instead of waiting for a hidden patch.

Any page saying Raging Tides is still unavailable is older than the April 2, 2026 Global release. The current English name is Raging Tides; Kuanglan and 狂瀾 are legacy search terms.

Do not combine all three routes. They are alternative eligibility conditions. Finish the one closest to your current quest state, then follow the Sect clue that appears.

Liangzhou route

Finish the gourd memorial, then read the mailed invitation.

English references disagree on the headline: GameTrek uses Gourd of Remembrance, while Game8 uses Gourd of No Return and calls the item the Gourd of Remembrance. Both point to Guo Huailie at Mount Wuwei and the same memorial-offering route.

    Open the Mount Wuwei Encounter in Liangzhou

    Find Guo Huailie near the top of Mount Wuwei. Current English guides call this Encounter either Gourd of Remembrance or Gourd of No Return, so use the NPC and location to identify it.

  2. 02

    Recover the Gourd of Remembrance

    Pick up the young general's gourd beneath a collapsed roof at the Governor's Residence in the Liangzhou (Fallen) map, then return it to Guo Huailie.

  3. 03

    Perform Spirit Writing on the gourd

    Follow the Encounter prompt after handing over the gourd. The first memorial offering will not be the correct one; that failure is part of the route.

    Buy the first grain, oil, and wine at Skybrim Market

    Place the initial offerings for Zhang Huaishen and perform Spirit Writing again. When the memorial does not respond, continue to the three named suppliers.

    Collect the correct memorial offerings

    Get grain from the Agricultural Commissioner at Reclining Buddha Temple, oil from the Oil-Selling Veteran at Skybrim Market, and wine from Li Fanglao at Kingvine Village.

    Return to Guo Huailie and finish the memorial

    Place the correct offerings, perform Spirit Writing, then follow Guo Huailie to the top of Mount Wuwei to complete the Encounter.

    Open your mail and read the new letter

    The letter starts Call of the Great Tide. Reading it matters; receiving it without opening it does not advance the quest state described by the current route.

    Meet Shi Jiuge at Northern Vow Ruins

    Track Call of the Great Tide back to Qinghe. Speak to Shi Jiuge, read Guo Huailie's final words when prompted, then speak to Shi Jiuge again for the Raging Tides invitation.

Qinghe route

    Reach level 10 and finish Echoes of Old Battles

    The level gate unlocks the Sect system. Echoes of Old Battles clears the Northern Vow Ruins state used by the traditional Raging Tides clue.

  2. 02

    Return to Northern Vow Ruins east of Battlecrest Slope

    Look for the large wine jar in the memorial area. If no interaction appears, the problem is usually quest state, not a hidden second entrance.

  3. 03

    Drink from the jar and perform the Yanyun Oath

    The jar teleports you to the statue chamber. Use the Yanyun Oath, then pick up the Letter of Initiation behind the statue.

  4. 04

    Track the initiation and raise the counter to nine

    Use the current Journal counter as authority. Check it after every purchase, item drink, Mystic Skill, Pitch Pot round, or Madiao penalty drink instead of assuming an old bottle list still matches your client.

  5. 05

    Go to the Raging Tides elder at Heaven's Pier

    After the counter reaches 9/9, follow the quest marker to Xiang Dinghua. Do not stop at a similarly named invitation or an untracked NPC.

  6. 06

    Win the timing game and speak to the elder again

    Tap the shown inputs with the correct timing. Winning makes you eligible; the membership is finalized by the follow-up conversation, provided your active Sect slot is free.

The traditional task is commonly documented with a time limit. Trust the timer in your current Journal, not a copied nine-day value from an older regional guide.

Older Kuanglan routes list Manjianghong, Warm Spring Wine, and Camel Milk Wine as fixed entries. Keep those as fallbacks, but stop once the live counter reaches 9/9; do not farm every legacy bottle unnecessarily.

The Sect screen says Raging Tides is not accepting newcomers

That message belongs to the pre-Version 1.5 Global state. Raging Tides became joinable with As Snow Falls on April 2, 2026. Update the client and reopen the Sect clue before following an older availability page.

The large jar at Northern Vow Ruins has no prompt

Check level 10, finish Echoes of Old Battles, then return to the memorial area east of Battlecrest Slope. The finished ruin state is more important than standing on an old map pin.

I performed the oath but have no initiation quest

Look behind the statue for the Letter of Initiation and confirm it was picked up. Then open the Journal and track the Raging Tides exploration quest before drinking anything.

The counter is stuck at 6/9 or 8/9

Stop drinking in batches. Use one documented source at a time and check the counter after each. If a Mystic Skill does not count in your state, switch to Pitch Pot, Madiao, or a physical wine route.

Drinking sent me into a dream scene

The current route warns that rapid drinking can trigger the drunken dream. Exit or finish that scene, return to the tracked initiation, and continue only after confirming the counter was saved.

I reached 9/9 but the elder will not admit me

Use the tracked Heaven's Pier marker, win Xiang Dinghua's timing game, and speak to him again afterward. Also clear any existing Sect membership before the final conversation.

I completed the gourd Encounter but received no quest

Check unread mail first. Call of the Great Tide begins by reading the letter. If it is absent, change maps or relog once, then verify the Guo Huailie Encounter is actually marked complete.

Shi Jiuge has dialogue but no join option

Track Call of the Great Tide, read Guo Huailie's final words, and speak to Shi Jiuge a second time. If the invitation still cannot complete, leave the Sect currently occupying your one membership slot.

The current Sect reference lists a weekly total of 300. Missing it costs 10 Battle Will, so join only if drinking tasks fit your routine.

No-retreat rule

Do not flee trials

Leaving Hero's Realm or Sword Trial early is listed as a 10 Battle Will violation. The Sect rewards finishing the fight, not merely entering it.

Open-world trait

+50% drunkenness capacity

Raging Tides increases the open-world drunkenness cap, which supports its wine loop but does not remove the weekly requirement.

Leaving cost

One Perception Forest round

Betray Master starts a Severance Trial. Complete one Perception Forest match to clear the trial after leaving.

The current Sect reference associates Raging Tides with Heavenquaker Spear, Stormbreaker Spear, and Phalanxbane Blade. Joining provides the Sect path and shop, but it is not a reason to ignore the weekly rules or your existing membership progress.

How do I join Raging Tides in Where Winds Meet?

Is Raging Tides available on the Global server?

Yes. Raging Tides became joinable in the Global Version 1.5 As Snow Falls update on April 2, 2026. Guides that still call it unavailable predate that release.

What is the easiest Raging Tides joining route?

If Liangzhou and Mount Wuwei are already open, complete the gourd Encounter and Call of the Great Tide to avoid the wine counter. Before Liangzhou, the Northern Vow ritual and nine-wine route is the practical option. Use 100 jars only if you are already close.

Do I still need nine wines to join Raging Tides?

Not if you qualify through the Liangzhou gourd Encounter or the official 100-jar condition. Nine wines remain the initiation trial after taking the Letter of Initiation from the Northern Vow ritual route.

Is Gourd of Remembrance the same as Gourd of No Return?

Why did Call of the Great Tide not appear?

Finish the Guo Huailie Encounter, check your mail, and read the new letter. Then track Call of the Great Tide and speak to Shi Jiuge at Northern Vow Ruins.

How do I fix Raging Tides stuck at 8/9 wines?

Use one source at a time and watch the quest counter. If a Mystic Skill does not advance it, try Pitch Pot, a Madiao penalty drink, or a physical wine route instead of repeating the same action.

Is Kuanglan the same Sect as Raging Tides?

Yes. Kuanglan is the older romanization used for 狂瀾 or 狂澜. Raging Tides is the current Global English Sect name.

Can I join Raging Tides while I belong to another Sect?

No. Only one Sect membership can be active. You may prepare route requirements first, but the final Raging Tides invitation needs the active Sect slot to be free.
