Where Winds Meet Gear Recycling and Tuning Guide

Old gear has four possible jobs: stay equipped, complete a useful set, enter the Arsenal, or become Tuning material. Recycle only after those checks, because batch recycling is immediate and special material effects disappear when the item becomes ordinary Tuning Stones.

Before recycling, remove every item that completes a set you use, may enter the Level 51 Arsenal, or carries a special effect when consumed as Tuning material. Recycling is irreversible, and batch recycling does not ask for a final confirmation. Gear Tuning unlocks at Level 41 and World Level 5, adds random affixes, and accepts Tuning Stones or same-tier gear; lower-rarity gear cannot be tuned.

Do not confuse slot enhancement with Gear Tuning. Enhancement raises the equipped slot and survives weapon swaps. Tuning changes affixes on a particular eligible gear piece. Tier 91 Relaid Gear is a separate branch: it uses Modulating instead of normal Tuning or Retuning, so finish this keep-and-correct audit before conversion.

Protect active gear and alternate loadouts
Currently equipped weapons, armor, and accessories do not appear in the Recycling list, but saved alternatives still need a manual check. Lock or separate pieces used by another weapon pair, healer set, tank set, or PvP setup before opening batch recycling.

Check the set and the role it serves
Gear Sets activate a four-piece bonus. Keep a piece when it completes a set effect your current role actually uses or replaces a weaker part of that same set. A random incomplete set with worse stats is not protected merely because its name is colored.

Save gear with a special Tuning material effect
Some drops grant extra Tuning progress or guarantee a higher-rarity tuned affix when consumed directly as material. That special effect is lost if the item is first dismantled into ordinary Tuning Stones. Check the item marker and Tuning-material description before recycling it.

Reserve an Arsenal candidate after Level 51
The Arsenal unlocks at Level 51. Gear placed there provides minor attribute bonuses according to the chosen Arsenal Path, and the Path can be changed to match the active build. Compare an old item's Arsenal contribution before converting it into currency or stones.

Recycle true junk deliberately
Open Bag, enter Gear, and choose Recycling. Recycling cannot be undone. Individual recycling gives a confirmation step, while batch recycling does not, so use single-item actions until your filters and keep rules are proven. Read the return preview rather than assuming every item produces the same reward.

Tune only eligible gear worth keeping
Gear Tuning becomes available at Level 41 and World Level 5. It fills a Tuning bar and adds a random affix when the bar completes; lower-rarity gear is not eligible. Use Tuning Stones or same-tier gear after naming the affix family the build needs.

Set a stopping rule before rerolling
Stop when the item has a usable affix for the active role, when the next attempt would consume a special material better saved for a stronger base, or when the piece will soon be replaced. Random affixes make a perfect roll possible, not economically mandatory.

Same-tier gear can fill the Tuning bar directly, and a special material effect may be worth more than its generic dismantle return.

No set, Arsenal, material, or stat use

Recycle it after a final selection review.

Once all four useful jobs are ruled out, freeing bag space and recovering progression resources is the item's remaining value.

Tuning Stones sold for Jade Echoes

Use dismantling and event sources first unless the purchase solves a deliberate bottleneck.

Jade Echoes are limited and compete with other systems, while unwanted gear and events provide non-premium stone routes.

Batch recycling removed an item immediately

Batch recycling has no final confirmation and recycled gear is unretrievable. Pause further batch use, lock or separate every keep category, and use individual recycling until the selection rules are reliable.

My special Tuning effect disappeared

A special effect belongs to the gear while it is used directly as Tuning material. Dismantling converts it into ordinary Tuning Stones and does not preserve that guarantee or bonus progress. Save marked gear as an item next time.

The Tuning button is missing

Confirm both gates: Character Level 41 and World Level 5. Also check the item rarity, because lower-rarity gear cannot be tuned even after the system itself unlocks.

Tuning filled the bar but gave the wrong affix

The affix roll is random. Decide whether the new line is usable for the active role before repeating. Do not consume a rare special material merely because the first random result was imperfect.

I cannot decide between Arsenal and recycling

Open the active Arsenal Path and compare the old item's attribute contribution with the recycling return. Keep the better candidate for the Path you actually use; recycle a duplicate only after the Arsenal slot and alternate builds are covered.

Should I recycle all old gear in Where Winds Meet?

No. First remove pieces used by a set or alternate loadout, candidates for the Level 51 Arsenal, and gear with a special Tuning-material effect. Recycle only items with no remaining combat, set, Arsenal, or material job.

Can recycled gear be recovered?

No. Recycling is irreversible. Batch recycling also skips a final confirmation, so review the entire selection and use individual recycling until your keep rules are dependable.

When does Gear Tuning unlock?

Gear Tuning requires Character Level 41 and World Level 5. Lower-rarity gear still cannot be tuned after the system unlocks.

What should I use as Gear Tuning material?

Use Tuning Stones or spare gear of the same tier. Preserve gear that grants bonus Tuning progress or guarantees a high-rarity affix so it can be consumed directly; dismantling it first removes that special effect.

What is the Arsenal for?

The Arsenal unlocks at Level 51 and lets old gear provide minor attribute bonuses based on the selected Arsenal Path. Compare that contribution before recycling a strong or path-matching piece.

Can I keep Tuning a Tier 91 piece after Relaying it?
