Where Winds Meet Martial Arts Paths: All 9 Weapon Pairs

Use current Version 2.0 Path names to choose a role and natural weapon pair. Same-Path synergy is a starting point; a hybrid is useful only when the second weapon has a clear job.

Pinned answer

A Path is natural synergy, not a permanent class.

Martial Arts define the actual weapon movesets. Paths group Martial Arts that naturally share a role, resource, buff, or swap loop. Start with a matching Path when you need clarity, then use a hybrid only when weapon two adds a named function such as healing, range, control, defense, or setup.

System basics

Five rules before comparing any Path.

Rule 01

The Martial Art is the real moveset

Equipping a weapon model without learning its associated Martial Art gives only basic attacks. The Martial Art provides the skills, abilities, resource, role, and Path behavior.

Rule 02

A Path describes natural synergy

Two Martial Arts on the same Path usually share a role, swap effect, resource, buff, or setup-payoff loop. That makes them a useful starting pair, not a mandatory class lock.

Rule 03

Roles change the success condition

Melee DPS, ranged DPS, healer, and tank should not be compared by one damage number. A healer succeeds through sustain and recovery; a tank through mitigation and control.

Rule 04

Hybrid pairs need an explicit job

A hybrid works when weapon two adds healing, range, control, defense, setup, or a persistent swap benefit. Without that job, it is usually two separate systems competing for attention.

Rule 05

Unlock routes are separate from build choice

Martial Arts can come from the default start, Qi Sheng's Oddity reward, Skill Theft, a Sect, mail, or regional progression. Confirm access before planning the final pair.

Current Path map

Nine current Global Paths and the job each pair is trying to do.

Burst DPS and control

Bamboocut - Kite

Version 2.0 · no old CN row

Heavenwill Gauntlets + Skygrasp Rope Dart

Rope Dart setup and repositioning feed a close-range Gauntlet burst route. The official Version 2.0 description emphasizes fast pressure and flexible range changes.

Choose it when: Choose it when you want the new Hidden Mountain weapon route and enjoy controlling the opening before committing to close-range burst.

Melee DPS baseline

Bellstrike - Splendor

鳴金·虹 · Mingjin Hong

Nameless Sword + Nameless Spear

Mobile sword pressure, ranged sword waves, spear control, and burst with a visible Endurance rhythm.

Choose it when: Choose it when you want a complete route from the two default Martial Arts before chasing difficult unlocks.

Bleed and sustained melee DPS

Bellstrike - Umbra

鳴金·影 · Mingjin Ying

Strategic Sword + Heavenquaker Spear

Build damage-over-time stacks, reposition safely, then convert the setup into a stronger payoff window.

Choose it when: Choose it when you enjoy setup, stack maintenance, and a planned burst instead of immediate front-loaded damage.

Fast melee DPS

Bamboocut - Wind

破竹·風 · Pozhu Feng

Infernal Twinblades + Mortal Rope Dart

Relentless strings, chase pressure, high mobility, and a short secondary-weapon effect that rewards uptime.

Choose it when: Choose it when fast input and staying on target feel better than defensive margin or wide AoE.

Ranged DPS and control

Silkbind - Jade

牽絲·玉 · Qiansi Yu

Vernal Umbrella + Inkwell Fan

Long-range pressure, control, projectile defense, air time, and a deliberate rotation built around positioning.

Choose it when: Choose it when you prefer distance and control, and can accept slower punishable actions when timing is poor.

Healer and support

Silkbind - Deluge

牽絲·霖 · Qiansi Lin

Panacea Fan + Soulshade Umbrella

Direct healing, healing over time, team support, safe ranged actions, and strong survival at lower damage.

Choose it when: Choose it when keeping yourself or a group alive is the job, not when you want the fastest solo damage chart.

Tank and defensive frontline

Stonesplit - Might

裂石·威 · Lieshi Wei

Stormbreaker Spear + Thundercry Blade

Shields, damage reduction, heavy attacks, defensive trading, and a slower rhythm with clear team value.

Choose it when: Choose it when you want mitigation and frontline control more than mobility or a fast solo clear.

Mobile ranged-to-melee burst

Bamboocut - Dust

破竹·塵 · Bamboocut Dust

Everspring Umbrella + Unfettered Rope Dart

Umbrella setup and AoE at mid-range, then Rope Dart mobility and burst when the opening is ready.

Choose it when: Choose it when frequent swaps and changing range are the attraction rather than a single-weapon loop.

Mobile melee pressure and burst

Stonesplit - Strength

裂石·力 · Stonesplit Strength

Snowparting Blade + Phalanxbane Blade

Fast parry-led pressure and Blade Momentum followed by heavier charge attacks and a planned cash-out.

Choose it when: Choose it when you want the Liangzhou Blade route and enjoy building momentum before the heavier swap.

Choose by role

Start with the job, then choose the Path.

Decision 01

Learn the system with current starter tools

Bellstrike - Splendor

Nameless Sword and Spear are available early and teach mobility, control, resources, and weapon swapping without a specialized unlock route.

Decision 02

Add safety to a new character

Silkbind - Deluge or a Panacea Fan hybrid

Healing creates room to learn encounters. Use the complete healer Path for support or pair Fan with damage while the account is still developing.

Decision 03

Play at range

Silkbind - Jade

Umbrella and Fan keep pressure at distance, but positioning and slow punishable actions still matter.

Decision 04

Play fast aggressive melee

Bamboocut - Wind

Twinblades and Rope Dart reward uptime, chasing, and long pressure strings, with less defensive margin after a mistake.

Decision 05

Tank group content

Stonesplit - Might

The Path has the clearest mitigation and frontline identity. Judge it by survival and team control, not a DPS tier.

Decision 06

Use a modern swap-heavy route

Bamboocut - Dust or Stonesplit - Strength

The newer pairs ask you to build an opening with one weapon and cash it out with the other instead of camping one moveset.

Decision 07

Try the Version 2.0 weapon route

Bamboocut - Kite

Heavenwill Gauntlets and Skygrasp Rope Dart combine close-range pressure with setup, control, and repositioning. Treat it as a new route to test, not an automatic replacement for an invested Path.

Decision 08

Build around bleed and setup

Bellstrike - Umbra

Strategic Sword and Heavenquaker Spear reward stack maintenance and a delayed payoff rather than immediate burst.

Natural pair or hybrid

A hybrid is useful when weapon two solves one named problem.

  1. 01

    Name the primary weapon's job

Write one sentence: this weapon handles ordinary damage, ranged pressure, tanking, healing, setup, or burst. A vague primary produces a vague pair.

  2. 02

    Choose one missing function

Add the second weapon only for a weakness the first one cannot solve: sustain, range, crowd control, mitigation, gap closing, or a better Qi-break payoff.

  3. 03

Test whether the effect survives the swap

Some buffs, resources, or setup effects benefit the next weapon; others stop when the bar changes. Confirm the actual handoff instead of assuming every shared Path is automatic.

  4. 04

    Run the same encounter twice

Compare a natural Path pair with the hybrid. Keep the hybrid only when the added function improves recovery, uptime, control, or safety enough to justify another system.

  5. 05

    Delay specialized investment

Weapon-slot enhancement carries across weapon changes, but Inner Ways, gear sets, tuning, and exact rotations can be Path-specific. Commit after the swap has a repeatable purpose.

Do not call a pair complete because two weapons share a color, attribute, or old Chinese school label. The swap needs a practical handoff you can repeat in combat.

Sources and questions

Current Global Paths, weapon behavior, unlocks, and quick answers.

Does Where Winds Meet have classes?

It does not use a permanent class lock. Your equipped Martial Arts define weapon movesets, roles, and Paths, and you can change the two equipped weapon slots as you unlock more styles.

What is the best Martial Arts Path for beginners?

Bellstrike - Splendor is the cleanest baseline because Nameless Sword and Nameless Spear are available early. Panacea Fan can be added when healing makes the first hours safer.

Do both weapons need to share the same Path?

No. Same-Path pairs have natural role and swap synergy, but hybrids work when the second weapon has one explicit job such as healing, control, setup, defense, or range.

How do you unlock more Martial Arts?

Depending on the style, use the default start, Qi Sheng's first-Oddity reward, Skill Theft, Sect membership, in-game mail, or later regional progression. Owning the weapon model alone does not unlock its full moveset.

Are Mingjin, Qiansi, Pozhu, and Lieshi current English names?

No. They are older transliterations of 鳴金, 牽絲, 破竹, and 裂石. Current Global uses Bellstrike, Silkbind, Bamboocut, and Stonesplit.

Which Paths were added after the original six?

Bamboocut - Dust and Stonesplit - Strength expanded the original six. Version 2.0 then added Bamboocut - Kite, pairing Heavenwill Gauntlets with Skygrasp Rope Dart.

How many Martial Arts Paths are current in Version 2.0?

Nine natural Paths are listed in the current Global build reference. Bamboocut - Kite is the newest, joining the eight established Bellstrike, Silkbind, Stonesplit, and Bamboocut routes.
