Where Winds Meet Touch of Death: Echoes of Old Battles

This is the full Jianghu Legacy 01 route, not just the skill reward. Use it to enter Battlecrest Slope, reveal the underground passage, solve the Yanyun Oath wall, open the waterfall gate, and claim Touch of Death from the Northern Vow treasure.

Touch of Death maps to 淩虛一指 / 凌虚一指. He Shan Ru Gu / 河山如故 is the older name for this same ruins route; the current Global quest title is Echoes of Old Battles. 百鬼打穴手 is Ghost Bind, a separate Kaifeng control skill from Unwanted Hospitality.

    Unlock and track Echoes of Old Battles

    Ask the Wayfarer at Moonveil Mountain to open Qinghe's Jianghu Legacy list. In Exploration, inspect entry 01 and track Echoes of Old Battles so the Battlecrest Slope route appears in Verdant Wilds.

    Question the eavesdropper and clear the training ground

    Talk to the eavesdropper beside the ruined fortress gate, open the gate, and defeat the guards and Zhang Bao inside. Do not search for the old Lie Bujin or Lie Bumie names unless your client actually shows the legacy route labels.

    Open the clue chest and light the correct contraption

    Open the training-ground chest for the treasure-map clue, then light the contraption immediately beside it. In the older He Shan Ru Gu route this is presented as a four-torch check: two right-side torches begin lit, the chest-side torch is the third, and the rooftop torch is the missing fourth. Use that fallback only if the center mechanism does not appear after the chest-side contraption.

    Use Mighty Drop on the center mechanism

    Return to the round mechanism that rises in the middle of the training ground. Jump above it and use Mighty Drop; a normal attack or interact prompt will not reveal the stairs leading underground.

    Inspect the corpse and learn Yanyun Oath

    Descend until you reach the corpse and inspect it. This gives the Yanyun Oath clue and gesture. Then take the left-hand stairs down to the large general statue; the wall blocks stay inactive until the gesture is used there.

    Perform Yanyun Oath and solve both walls

    Use the Yanyun Oath gesture in front of the statue. Pulling a block out lights it; pushing it in dims it. The final lit phrase is 山 河 寸 土 on the left and 誓 死 不 易 on the right. From the untouched older layout, dim 漂 on the left and 百 plus 移 on the right.

    Crouch under the rope trap and take the side chest

    Pass through the opened wall gate and crouch beneath the low rope trap. Cross the wooden path for the optional chest before dropping into the waterwheel chamber; missing this chest does not block Touch of Death.

    Activate the mechanism behind the waterfall

    Drop into the waterwheel room, walk through the waterfall, and activate the stone mechanism behind it. The waterwheel turns and opens the final stone gate. The older route also marks a chest above the nearby general statue if that pickup is still present in your client.

    Open the Northern Vow treasure

    Enter the last chamber and open the large Northern Vow treasure. The current skill reference describes this inheritance as Warrior's Pledge, while the quest reward list confirms Touch of Death. An older Chinese-client route also places Lie Yan's final letter on the table beside the treasure.

    Read the wall writing and leave the chamber

    Inspect the writing on the final wall to complete Echoes of Old Battles; opening the chest alone is not the last journal step. The older route shows a nearby exit marker that teleports you out of the underground chamber after the completion interaction.

Troubleshooting and use

Most stalled runs are one missed prerequisite, contraption, gesture, wall state, or final wall interaction.

Echoes of Old Battles is missing

Ask the Wayfarer at Moonveil Mountain first. Then open Exploration, choose the Qinghe Jianghu Legacy tab, inspect entry 01, and track it before going to Battlecrest Slope.

The eavesdropper or gate does nothing

Make sure Jianghu Legacy 01 is actively tracked. The old Lie Bujin route text is not the current interaction target; use the eavesdropper directly beside the Battlecrest Slope fortress gate.

The center mechanism never appeared

Defeat Zhang Bao, open the clue chest, and light the contraption immediately beside that chest. If your client retains the older four-torch layout, check the rooftop torch after the two right-side torches and chest-side torch are lit.

Mighty Drop did not open the floor

Aim at the round center mechanism after it has risen, jump above it, and use Mighty Drop. A normal plunge attack, standing interaction, or hit from ground level does not satisfy the route trigger.

The wall characters will not move

Inspect the underground corpse, equip the Yanyun Oath gesture it gives you, and perform it directly in front of the large statue. The wall is inactive before that gesture.

The wall puzzle is still wrong

Ignore click order and inspect the final light state: 山河寸土 must be lit on the left and 誓死不易 on the right. Pulling out lights a block; pushing in dims it.

The last stone gate is closed

Crouch under the rope trap, enter the waterwheel chamber, and walk through the waterfall. The gate opens only after you activate the mechanism hidden behind the falling water.

The chest is open but the quest is still active

Read the writing on the final wall. The Northern Vow treasure awards the skill, but the wall interaction closes Echoes of Old Battles in the journal.

Touch of Death is missing from my active skill bar

It is a General passive/context skill, not a normal hotbar attack. Approach an eligible enemy with weak constitution from behind while they are unaware; the assassination prompt appears only when the target qualifies.

The current skill reference limits its one-hit defeat effect to weak enemies, so do not expect the prompt or instant kill on every elite or boss.
