Start with Feng Jisheng at the Masterwood Hamlet Boundary Stone. Return the Boatman's pouch, meet Murong Yuan inside Lu Ban Shrine, then collect theJade of Artistry at Buddha Statue Site and theJade of Craft at Tile Kiln. Bring both back, clear the three-ring laboratory, and return theMohist Token to Feng Jisheng.

Avoid clearing the shrine laboratory before Murong Yuan sends you there. The quest can usually catch up when you dive through the right pool again, but following the tracked order saves a reset.

Main quest route

  1. 01

    Start at the Masterwood Hamlet Boundary Stone

    Travel to Masterwood Hamlet in Jadewood Court, Kaifeng. Feng Jisheng stands beside the Boundary Stone. Speak with him to begin the Wandering Tale and learn that the local shipwrights may know where Murong Yuan went.

    Ask the Boatman about Murong Yuan

    Walk into the hamlet toward Lu Ban Shrine and the moored boats. Speak with the pacing Boatman outside the shrine. He will trade his lead for help recovering a lost coin pouch.

  3. 03

    Return the coin pouch

    Search the shrine's exterior corner beside the small pond. The pouch is on the ground under or immediately beside the bamboo scaffolding, only a few steps from the Boatman. Use Wind Sense if the pickup blends into the wall and reeds, then return it to him.

    Meet the unnamed woman inside Lu Ban Shrine

    Enter the main shrine building and speak with the NPC displayed as ???. She is Murong Yuan. She asks you to solve the Gold-Jade Resonance mysteries at Buddha Statue Site and Tile Kiln in exchange for the Mohist Token. Inspect the nearby letter if the tracked objective remains after the conversation.

    Take the Jade of Artistry from Buddha Statue Site

    Teleport to Buddha Statue Site, go to the largest statue, and follow the path right from its base into the cave. Burn the vines with a Fire Arrow, align the two movable sound devices, ring the hanging bell, and break the resonating jade ring with Meridian Touch. Loot the pedestal chest for the Jade of Artistry.

    Take the Jade of Craft from Tile Kiln

    Teleport to the Grand Canal Boundary Stone and travel west to Tile Kiln. The correct yard is filled with jars and kiln storage. At the cave gate, shoot the bell and use Meridian Touch on the jade ring while the sound is active. Open the box inside for the Jade of Craft.

    Return to Murong Yuan and dive into the shrine pool

    Bring both Jades back to Lu Ban Shrine. While facing Murong Yuan and the altar, use the square pool on the right inside the compound. Dive to the bottom, enter the submerged passage, and swim into the Mohist laboratory.

    Break all three laboratory rings

    Each lock uses the same sequence: shoot its bell, then apply Meridian Touch to the matching jade ring while it resonates. The first is near the entrance, the second is reached from the moving platform after the right-hand ladder, and the third is above the conveyor mechanism in the final room.

  9. 09

    Open the golden chest and collect the Mohist Token

    After breaking the third ring, return to the lower floor and open the golden chest. You receive the Jade of Way, and the following scene gives you the Mohist Token. Use the signpost beside the chest to leave the laboratory.

    Give the token to Feng Jisheng

    Teleport back to the Masterwood Hamlet Boundary Stone and speak with Feng Jisheng. Hand over the Mohist Token to close The Lu and Mo Debate and receive the completion rewards.

Buddha Statue Site

Point the first device at the second, then point the second at the gate.

Exact sound-path solution

Short answer

Device 1: rotate three times, face device 2, Lift. Device 2: rotate three times, face the gate, Drop Down. Shoot the hanging bell beside the gate, then use Meridian Touch on the jade ring.

Reach the mechanism

From the largest Buddha, take the path on its right. Burn the vines near the locked gate with a Fire Arrow, climb through, then drop to the scaffolding around the first movable bell.

First sound device

Rotate it three times until it points toward the second device, then choose Lift. The two sound devices must face one another before the signal can continue across the room.

Second sound device

Cross to the opposite ramp, rotate this device three times until it points toward the locked gate, then choose Drop Down so the sound path reaches the jade ring.

Open the gate

Stand close to the gate, shoot the third bell hanging from the wooden beam, turn to the jade ring, and use Meridian Touch while the resonance is still active.

Claim the Jade

Enter the unlocked room and open the chest on the stone pedestal. The quest item is the Jade of Artistry; do not leave after taking only the optional chest on the climb.

The break window begins when the bell rings. If the gate ring stays intact, repeat the shot from closer range and apply Meridian Touch immediately; Celestial Seize is the wrong skill for this lock.

Tile Kiln and Mohist laboratory

The kiln is one quick lock; the shrine laboratory has three.

Jade of Craft → Jade of Way

Tile Kiln first

From Grand Canal, travel west to the jar-filled kiln yard. The small cave has no multi-device alignment: shoot the bell, use Meridian Touch on the ring, and take the Jade of Craft from the box inside.

    Ring 1 · entrance alcove

    Swim through the bottom tunnel. In the first chamber, find the ring in an alcove near the entrance. Shoot the nearby bell, then use Meridian Touch on the ring.

  2. 2

    Ring 2 · moving platform

    Take the right corridor, climb the wall ladder, and defeat the two Imperial Soldiers. Ride the moving platform with your bow ready. Still Waters makes the shot easier: ring the bell, then break the wall ring before the resonance fades.

  3. 3

    Cross the rotating machinery

    Defeat the next soldiers and use the rotating platform to cross. Drop into the following room, clear or bypass the guards, then climb the moving metal blades or conveyor structure to the upper level.

  4. 4

    Ring 3 · upper mechanism

    At the top, shoot the final bell and immediately use Meridian Touch on its ring. Jump back to the opening chamber once the lock breaks.

  5. 5

    Chest, cutscene and exit

    Open the golden chest for the Jade of Way. Let the cutscene finish so the Mohist Token enters the quest state, then use the nearby signpost instead of backtracking through the machinery.

Feng Jisheng is not beside the Boundary Stone

Confirm that you are at Masterwood Hamlet in Jadewood Court, not another hamlet marker. Current guides confirm the NPC start but do not agree on a hard story gate. If he is absent, advance the Jinming Pool: Petalfall Banquet story line and return in solo mode; Cries in the Distance is useful background but is not presented as a mandatory unlock by the current walkthroughs.

I cannot see the Boatman's coin pouch

Stay outside Lu Ban Shrine. Search the exterior wall at the corner beside the small pond and bamboo scaffolding, then use Wind Sense. Left and right directions vary with camera angle; the scaffolding and shrine wall are the reliable landmarks.

The Buddha Statue Site cave gate will not open

First burn the vines and position both movable sound devices. Device one faces device two and is lifted; device two faces the gate and is lowered. Shoot the hanging bell from beside the gate, then use Meridian Touch on the ring before the sound ends.

Celestial Seize does nothing to a jade ring

Use Meridian Touch, not Celestial Seize. Some early walkthrough wording mixed the two Mystic Skills. The ring also has to be resonating from a bell shot when you apply Meridian Touch.

I found a chest in the Buddha cave but no Jade of Artistry

The chest on the climb is optional loot. Continue through the resonance gate and open the chest on the pedestal in the room behind it; that container holds the quest Jade.

I cannot find Tile Kiln

Use the Grand Canal Boundary Stone and travel west. Look for the isolated yard packed with ceramic jars and kiln storage. The bell-and-ring cave entrance sits behind the main building rather than at the Masterwood Hamlet shrine.

I dived into the pond but found no laboratory

Return inside the Lu Ban Shrine compound. Face Murong Yuan and the altar, then use the square pool on the right and swim all the way to the bottom passage. The exterior pond beside the coin pouch is not the laboratory entrance.

I solved a mechanism early and Murong Yuan or the cutscene is missing

Finish collecting the Jade of Artistry and Jade of Craft, return to the shrine, and dive through the right pool again. Current player reports say re-entering the laboratory can trigger the delayed scene. If the objective still does not advance, use the Wandering Tale reset option in the quest journal as the last resort; it can require replaying the route.

The old Chinese workaround says to move time forward one day

That was the recovery used by the older CN-client route after pre-solving the mechanisms. On Global, try the simpler laboratory re-entry first. Advancing one in-game day and returning to the shrine is a legacy fallback, not a guaranteed current-version fix.
