The old screenshot labels the four elemental positions. The current solution is simpler: Heaven and Earth face each other, Water and Fire face away, and the center dial switches which pair can move.

Track Jianghu Legacy 06, follow the cries below Moonveil Peak, burn the root gate, and free Brother Feng. For the dial, point pillars 1 and 3 inward, align the floor circles with that pair, then point pillars 2 and 4 outward. In the final cave, use Tai Chi to throw the white bear into all three rock piles.

Veil of Stillness is not the reward here. The original article mentions Qiu Yuehai's separate Skill Theft lesson on the way to the summit; the current quest begins with the cries and ends with Brother Feng after the bear cavern.

Main quest route

  1. 01

    Unlock and track Jianghu Legacy 06

    Ask the Wayfarer for Moonveil Mountain, then open Qinghe Exploration and inspect Jianghu Legacy 06: Cries in the Distance. Tracking the entry reveals the search area at Moonveil Peak; it is more reliable than trying to trigger the quest from an old translated title.

  2. 02

    Follow the cries from Moonveil Peak

    Travel to Moonveil Peak or approach from Front Mountain. A voice indicator appears when the cries for help begin. Follow its direction and distance reading to the cliff edge instead of searching the pagoda interior.

  3. 03

    Descend to the cave below the tree

    Climb carefully down the mountainside beneath the tree to find the cave entrance. There is an optional chest on the next ledge, but the quest route enters the opening directly below the tree.

  4. 04

    Find Brother Feng in the lower chamber

    Enter the door inside the cave and descend into the mountain. Brother Feng is trapped behind a stone wall near the pillar on the right side of the candles, across from the point where you enter the room.

  5. 05

    Burn the roots and activate the rescue circle

    Turn back toward the root-covered side passage, shoot the roots with a Fire Arrow, and enter the circle behind them. The array opens Brother Feng's wall. Take the nearby chest, speak with him, step into the tracked Eight Trigrams Formation circle, then speak with him again.

    Solve the Yin-Yang dial and four pillars

    Rotate pillars 1 and 3, the Heaven and Earth pair, so they face each other. Turn the central Yin-Yang dial until its two floor circles align with pillars 1 and 3. This releases the linked Water and Fire pair. Rotate pillars 2 and 4 so they face away from each other; the central dial then sinks and opens the lower path.

  7. 07

    Mighty Drop into the hidden study

    Use Mighty Drop to enter the opening safely. Read the stone writings, collect the Strange Stone Ring, and inspect both shelves before following Brother Feng. The letter and study objects are part of the quest reward trail, not optional proof tasks.

  8. 08

    Follow Brother Feng and open the stone gate

    Catch up with Brother Feng, finish his conversation, and open the next stone gate. Venture into the final cavern only after the dialogue objective advances, because entering early can make it look as though the bear encounter has no quest state.

  9. 09

    Throw the albino bear into all three rock piles

    Normal attacks do not solve the Thick-Skinned Albino encounter. Use Tai Chi to seize the bear and throw it into the rock piles on the right, left, and front of the cavern. Each broken pile exposes loot. Open the final treasure, collect the revealed chests, and speak with Brother Feng to complete the quest.

Set Heaven and Earth first, move the dial, then set Water and Fire.

Pillars 1 and 3 face inward, toward each other.

This is the pair that can move independently at the start.

Align the two floor circles with pillars 1 and 3.

The dial changes which elemental pair is bound together.

Pillars 2 and 4 face outward, away from each other.

After the dial turns, this pair can be positioned separately.

One pair faces in; the other pair faces out.

The central disk sinks only when both pair states are correct.

The older clue is often translated as “Heaven and Earth opposite; Water and Fire opposed,” which is easy to misread. Use the physical result above: pillars 1 and 3 look at each other; pillars 2 and 4 look away from each other.

10 fixes

Cries in the Distance is missing from my journal

Ask the Moonveil Mountain Wayfarer, then inspect Jianghu Legacy 06 in Qinghe Exploration. The old Yinyang Ruying or 陰陽如影 title will not appear in the current Global quest list.

I hear the voice but cannot find the entrance

Leave the pagoda area, follow the voice-distance indicator to the cliff, and look below the tree. The cave is down the mountainside, not behind a door at the summit.

Brother Feng is visible but the wall will not open

Turn around from his wall and find the root-covered side passage. Burn the roots with a Fire Arrow, enter the circle behind them, and let the array animation finish.

The Yin-Yang puzzle objective will not begin

After freeing Brother Feng, speak with him, step into the tracked Eight Trigrams Formation circle, and speak with him again. The four-pillar interaction follows that dialogue sequence.

The Water and Fire pillars keep moving together

Do not fight the linked state. Set pillars 1 and 3 first, then rotate the center dial until the floor circles align with those two pillars. Water and Fire can be positioned separately only after that switch.

The central disk does not sink

Check the final geometry rather than the old translated clue: pillars 1 and 3 face each other, while pillars 2 and 4 face away from each other. Recheck the center-dial alignment before rotating the second pair.

The albino bear takes no normal damage

That is the encounter rule. Equip or select Tai Chi, seize the bear, and throw it into the three rock piles around the cavern. Weapon damage is not the intended completion method.

The bear fight has ended but I missed a chest

Check the right, left, and front sides of the cavern for all three broken rock piles before the final Brother Feng conversation. Each pile is a separate Tai Chi target and loot lane.

Tai Chi or the exit objective is broken in co-op

Player reports describe state problems when this cave is entered in another player's world. Return to your own world and retrack Jianghu Legacy 06 before repeating the final chamber; treat this as a community workaround, not a guaranteed bug fix.

I learned Veil of Stillness but this quest did not complete

Veil of Stillness is a separate Skill Theft route with Qiu Yuehai near Moonveil Peak. The old article mentions that encounter on the approach, but Cries in the Distance itself continues with Brother Feng, the Yin-Yang dial, and the albino bear.
