Where Winds Meet Guardian Palm: Quest & Air Forms Guide

Guardian Palm has two separate failure paths: finishing its long funeral-procession quest, and making the correct aerial form activate afterward. Use this thread to identify the exact checkpoint that did not register.

Quest ownership checkpoint

Complete the three rituals, carry the lamp through both procession segments, pass the fire, follow the spirits, and illuminate the tablets. Then return to reality and speak with the rustic monk until Guardian Palm appears in your collection.

After the unlock, height is only one gate for the aerial forms. A plain jump often does not create a valid combat-airborne state; use the air-form desk below before assuming the skill is broken.

Wayfarer to final claim

  1. 01

    Ask the Sundara Land Wayfarer about the local legacy

    Reach Sundara Land in northern Qinghe and speak with its Wayfarer. This is the reveal gate for Jianghu Legacy 07; searching the ruined village first can leave you without a tracked objective.

    Checkpoint: Where a Thousand Buddhas Wept appears in the Qinghe Exploration menu.

  2. 02

    Inspect Jianghu Legacy 07 and start tracking it

    Open Exploration, use the Side Story or Jianghu Legacy list, inspect Where a Thousand Buddhas Wept, and enable tracking. The quest marker is the reliable current route anchor.

    Checkpoint: The tracked route points toward the ruined Thousand-Buddha Village area.

  3. 03

    Speak with the Nightdream Monk

    Find the mumbling monk among the village ruins. Older notes call him 夜夢僧 and place him near the 千佛谷 boundary stone; current English references use Nightdream Monk and Sundara Land.

    Checkpoint: The quest splits into three ritual objectives.

  4. 04

    Complete all three rituals

    Appease the Hungry at the shore coffin, offer Perfect Incense at the cabin, and Sprinkle Pure Water at the rocky cliff. Do not treat two completed markers as enough.

    Checkpoint: All three ritual objectives are gone and the route sends you back to the monk.

  5. 05

    Return to the monk and let the quest set midnight

    Speak with the Nightdream Monk again. The current route changes the time automatically; manually waiting for night is not the missing trigger.

    Checkpoint: A procession appears down the slope and the quest points you toward it.

  6. 06

    Talk, pick up the lamp, and stay with the procession

    Approach the group with the monk, finish the conversation, pick up the nearby lamp, and walk with the villagers. When the group pauses for a scripted beat, stay close instead of running ahead.

    Checkpoint: The procession reaches the dark crowd outside the temple scene.

  7. 07

    Move to the front, watch the scene, then take the lamp again

    Weave through the crowd until the exchange at the front plays. When you return to the procession, speak with the Nightdream Monk and pick up the lamp again before moving on.

    Checkpoint: The procession resumes and eventually stops at the burning area.

  8. 08

    Let the monk cross the fire, then lead the villagers through

    Speak with the Nightdream Monk at the fire. Wait for him to enter first, then move forward with the villagers. Crossing alone before the conversation does not replace the objective.

    Checkpoint: The scene changes to the white-spirit route beyond the fire.

  9. 09

    Follow the spirits, illuminate the tablets, and claim in reality

    Talk to the monk, follow the white spirits, speak to him again, and illuminate the memorial tablets. After the scene returns to the real world, speak with the rustic monk to close the quest and receive Guardian Palm.

    Checkpoint: Guardian Palm appears in the Mystic Skill collection; then equip it in a slot.

Each ritual has a separate location and registration state. The procession transition only happens after all three and the return conversation.

Most apparent bugs are a missed conversation, lamp, or claim boundary.

I found Thousand-Buddha Village, but nothing starts.

Use the Wayfarer and tracked Jianghu Legacy entry as the gate. The old map proves the area, but walking directly to the old marker does not guarantee the current quest state.

I cannot find the Nightdream Monk.

Track Where a Thousand Buddhas Wept first, then follow its marker into the ruined village. The older 夜夢僧 screenshot identifies the monk and terrain, not a current coordinate.

The third ritual is missing.

Compare the objective list against all three distinct places: shore coffin, cabin incense, and rocky cliff. The cliff-water ritual is easy to confuse with a general shoreline marker.

I set midnight manually and still see no procession.

Time is not the only gate. Complete all three rituals, return to the Nightdream Monk, and let that conversation perform the scripted time change.

The group pauses and looks bugged.

Stay in formation, keep the lamp, and wait for nearby scripted behavior to finish. Do not sprint far ahead or abandon the group while the objective is still tied to the procession.

I reached the temple crowd but the objective does not advance.

Move through the crowd to the front until the exchange plays. Afterward, talk to the monk and take the lamp again; the first lamp does not carry the entire sequence.

I cannot pass the fire objective.

Speak with the Nightdream Monk at the barrier and wait for him to cross first. Then move forward with the villagers rather than entering alone before the trigger.

The white spirits disappeared.

Return to the last monk interaction and follow the tracked route slowly. The required chain is monk, spirits, monk again, then illuminate the tablets.

The quest ended, but Guardian Palm is not on my controls.

First check whether Guardian Palm is learned in the collection. If it is, open the slot screen and equip it. If the closed quest has no learned entry, preserve a screenshot of the quest state and reward screen before using support.

High-branch test

At Tier 3, start Mighty Drop from sufficient height, then activate Guardian Palm before the plunge finishes.

Do not confuse the two air forms

Cloud Steps commonly creates the 3-5 meter Lamp Light setup. Rite of Transcendence is the separate Tier 3 branch above five meters. A large-looking plunge is not enough proof; compare the skill name or effect in the live client.

Controls and values can move

Mighty Drop inputs differ across keyboard, controller, and mobile. Current cooldowns, damage, control eligibility, and exact combo timing remain live-client checks rather than permanent advice.

Reach roughly 3-5 meters in a valid airborne combat state and activate Guardian Palm. A quick Cloud Steps into Guardian Palm is the most repeatable practical setup.

Why is Guardian Palm grey after a normal jump?

In practice, a plain jump often does not create the combat-airborne state needed to activate a Mystic Skill. Use a skill-generated lift and press Guardian Palm before the airborne window closes.

How do I trigger Rite of Transcendence?

First reach Breakthrough Tier 3, then get at least five meters high. A community-tested method is to begin Mighty Drop from a high jump chain and immediately activate Guardian Palm before the plunge completes.

Do I need Cloud Steps for Guardian Palm?

No for the unlock and ground form. Cloud Steps is simply a reliable way to create the mid-height airborne state for Lamp Light; it does not by itself prove the Tier 3 high branch fired.
