Pinned answer

Sound three drums, return to Zhang, then fight Ye Wanshan.

The drum itself is large; the hard part is reading the basin as two sides instead of searching one cluster repeatedly. Screenshot from the original author guide.

Track Bodhi Sea in Qinghe, enter the Sundara Land basin near Halo Peak, and follow the drumbeat. Strike three drums, with the two remaining drums split across opposite sides of the area. Return to Zhang Yinmang, walk the illusion route, defeat Ye Wanshan, and collect Buddha's Light Jade: Yin.

The normal quest clear unlocks Challenge Ye Wanshan. Flaming Meteor comes from filling the eye meter in that Challenge, not from the campaign victory itself.

Full route

Six steps from the crater entrance to the Yin Light Jade.

  1. 01

Track Bodhi Sea and enter the crater

Look for Bodhi Sea in the Qinghe side-story list, then follow the tracked marker into the circular basin in Sundara Land near Halo Peak. Current English references disagree on whether the menu lane is called Campaign or Lost Chapter, so search the quest title if one tab looks empty.

  2. 02

    Follow the first drumbeat

Move toward the pulsing sound cue, clear the enemies around the large drum, and interact with it. Lightness Skills are restricted inside this route, so use the ground path instead of trying to fly directly to the sound icon.

  3. 03

Split left and right for the other two drums

Return your attention to the central basin after the first drum. The two remaining drums sit on opposite sides of the quest area. If you have found two, cross the basin instead of circling the same cluster again. Clear every guard before striking each drum.

  4. 04

    Return to Zhang Yinmang

Once all three drums have sounded, go back to Zhang Yinmang at the central temple. If his dialogue does not advance, one drum or one nearby guard group has not fully registered.

  5. 05

    Walk the illusion sequence

Follow and inspect the marked illusions. Sprint is disabled during this section by design; keep walking the intended route until the Ye Wanshan encounter begins rather than treating the movement lock as a bug.

  6. 06

Defeat Ye Wanshan and collect the scene rewards

Deflect his delayed red attacks, dodge yellow attacks, and punish when his Qi breaks. After the fight, complete the objective interactions, collect Ye Wanshan's Dagger and the Lost Painting if shown, open the nearby chest, and confirm Buddha's Light Jade: Yin in the completion rewards.

Green Buddha's Light Jade appearing after the Bodhi Sea route
The green jade scene marks the route's progression reward. Confirm the Yin half before moving on to Palace of Annals and The Promised Light.

Three-drum check

Use the sound cue, then search the opposite side.

ProblemWhat to do
I can hear a drum but cannot reach itStay on the ground route and follow the sound pulse around the basin. The quest intentionally disables Lightness Skills, including the shortcuts players normally use to cross Qinghe terrain.
I found two drums and the third is nowhere nearbyStop searching the same side. The original route note places the two remaining drums on opposite sides of the basin: one to each side of the central area.
The drum interaction does not countClear every enemy assigned to that drum and wait for the defeat state to finish. One current cross-check notes that some guards can remain active briefly after their health reaches zero.
The swamp route keeps interrupting meWatch the waterline and take the raised ground when possible. Crocodiles in the basin are a route hazard, not a separate quest objective.

Boss read

Deflect the delayed red hit; dodge the yellow attack.

Ye Wanshan punishes reacting to color alone. Read the delay between the red warning and the weapon impact, preserve dodges for yellow sequences, and turn the Qi break into your damage phase.

What you seeResponseWhy it works
Red attack with a visible delayWait for the actual hit, then deflectThe red flash starts before the strike lands. An early parry expires; a correct deflect drains Qi and creates the safest damage window.
Yellow slamDodge awayYellow attacks are unblockable. Do not try to replace the dodge with a normal guard or a red-attack parry timing.
Two follow-up glaive throwsDodge twiceTreat the throws as a short sequence. Spending the first dodge and immediately attacking often leaves you open to the second projectile.
Qi bar breaksCommit damage during the staggerThe campaign fight rewards patient defense. Build the opening with deflects, then spend your burst while Ye Wanshan cannot answer.

For the campaign, win normally. For Flaming Meteor, use the separate Challenge and keep Ye Wanshan alive until the eye-shaped proficiency meter is completely full.

Reward chain

The Yin Jade opens two different progression routes.

  1. 1

    Bodhi Sea campaign

    Buddha's Light Jade: Yin

This is the stable progression reward. The normal Ye Wanshan clear also opens his repeatable Challenge; it does not directly award Flaming Meteor.

    Open
  2. 2

    The Promised Light

    Yaksha Rush

Pair the Yin half with Buddha's Light Jade: Yang from Palace of Annals, reach 6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points, and speak with the Sundara Land Wayfarer to open the final Qinghe Jianghu Legacy.

    Open
  3. 3

    Challenge Ye Wanshan

    Flaming Meteor

In the separate Challenge fight, deflect red attacks until the eye-shaped proficiency meter is full, then defeat Ye Wanshan. A fast kill with an incomplete meter gives no skill.

    Open

Normal clear: Yin Jade and Challenge access.

Challenge study: full eye meter, then victory.

Final Qinghe gate: Yin + Yang + 6,000 points + Wayfarer.

SymptomFix
Bodhi Sea is absent from my quest listCheck the Qinghe side-story categories and search the exact title. Current references file the route under different menu labels, but both place its start in Sundara Land near Halo Peak.
Lightness Skills or double jump stopped workingThat restriction is part of Bodhi Sea. Stay on the ground route until the quest state ends; changing equipment or restarting will not create an intended aerial shortcut.
Zhang Yinmang will not continueVerify that all three drums sounded, not merely that you visited their platforms. Revisit the opposite side and clear any guard whose defeat animation or quest state did not finish.
I cannot sprint in the illusionSprint is intentionally restricted in this sequence. Walk the marked path and inspect the illusions until the boss transition triggers.
Ye Wanshan's red attack still hits my parryDelay the input. The red warning appears before the weapon connects, so deflect the strike itself rather than reacting to the first color flash.
I cleared the quest but did not get Flaming MeteorThe campaign clear only unlocks Challenge Ye Wanshan. Enter that Challenge, fill the eye meter by deflecting red attacks, and win after the meter is complete.
The Promised Light is still lockedBodhi Sea supplies only the Yin half. You also need the Yang half from Palace of Annals, 6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points, and the Sundara Land Wayfarer conversation.
Another guide shows different currency rewardsUse the live completion preview for coins, EXP, materials, and repeat rewards. Current English references disagree on exact totals, so this page does not freeze those values as fact.

Bodhi Sea FAQ

Where does the Bodhi Sea quest start in Where Winds Meet?

Track Bodhi Sea in Qinghe and follow its marker into the circular basin in Sundara Land near Halo Peak. If it is not under Campaign, search the side-story or Lost Chapter lane because current references use different category labels.

Where are the three drums in Bodhi Sea?

Follow the first drumbeat, then search both sides of the central basin. The two remaining drums are split to opposite sides, so do not keep circling the same cluster after finding the second one.

Why are Lightness Skills disabled in Bodhi Sea?

The route intentionally restricts Lightness Skills and later disables sprint during the illusion sequence. Use the ground path and walk the marked illusion route; these movement locks are not progression bugs.

How do you beat Ye Wanshan in Bodhi Sea?

Wait through the delay and deflect his red attacks, dodge the yellow slam, dodge both follow-up glaive throws, and punish after his Qi bar breaks.

What does Bodhi Sea reward?

The stable progression reward is Buddha's Light Jade: Yin. The route also opens Challenge Ye Wanshan and includes post-fight pickups and a chest. Check the live reward preview for patch-sensitive currency and material totals.

Does Bodhi Sea give Flaming Meteor?

Not directly. The normal Bodhi Sea clear opens Challenge Ye Wanshan. Fill the eye-shaped meter by deflecting red attacks in that Challenge, then win to unlock Flaming Meteor.

What is Buddha's Light Jade: Yin used for?

It pairs with Buddha's Light Jade: Yang from Palace of Annals. Both halves are prerequisites for The Promised Light, the final Qinghe Jianghu Legacy that awards Yaksha Rush.
