Where Winds Meet Talon Strike Unlock: Bird Nest Route

Talon Strike is a short route with three real failure points: the bridge can knock you down, the nest is below the upper platform, and the on-site Feed action must lead into a completed Skill Theft sequence. This thread separates each state.

Shortest correct route

At Palace of Annals, cross the long bridge south to the lone island. Climb the first short stairs, turn right, look down, and drop to the nest shelf below.

Stand beside the chicks or eggs and use the Feed / Interactaction shown by your client. That prompt starts Skill Theft. Finish the bird's dive-and-rise timing, then check the Mystic Skill collection.

Correction to the previous version of this page: feeding is not merely obsolete wording. Current guides show a Feed or Interact action at the nest. The safe correction is that you use that on-site prompt; you do not abandon the ledge to hunt for a separate named bird-food quest item unless the live client explicitly asks.

Palace of Annals to equipped skill

The route is short once the island is identified. The useful distinction is that right after crossing south is weston the map, so the “right-hand edge” and “western cliff” directions describe the same drop.

  1. 01

    Start at Palace of Annals in western Qinghe

    Use Palace of Annals near Sage's Knoll as the current English anchor. Stay outside the palace area; Talon Strike does not require a dungeon, quest chain, or NPC conversation.

    Checkpoint: You can face south toward a long wooden hanging bridge and an isolated rock platform.

    Do not misread: Older guides may call the area Chunqiu Bieguan or Spring Autumn Villa.

  2. 02

    Identify the bridge with the circling falcon

    The correct bridge leads to a lone pillar-like island over a deep drop. A falcon circles near the far platform, and masked Aureate enemies occupy the approach.

    Checkpoint: Long bridge, isolated island, circling bird, and hostile archers all appear in the same route.

    Do not misread: A random short bridge elsewhere around the palace is not enough evidence.

  3. 03

    Clear or safely bypass the bridge enemies

    Archers can stagger you on the narrow crossing. Remove them at range, pull them back to solid ground, or cross only when you can reach the far side without being knocked into the ravine.

    Checkpoint: You reach the far platform and can move without an active enemy interrupting the cliff setup.

    Do not misread: Fighting on the planks is the least forgiving option because one stagger can reset the route.

  4. 04

    Climb the first short stairs and turn to the outer right edge

    From the far end of the bridge, go up the first short flight of stairs. At the top, turn right toward the outer cliff. Because you crossed south, this is also the western side described by current route references.

    Checkpoint: You are on the upper enemy platform looking down the outside cliff face.

    Do not misread: The nest is not on the summit and is easy to miss if the camera stays level.

    Look down for the nest shelf before dropping

    Tilt the camera down and find the narrow intermediate shelf containing a nest with eggs or chicks. Step off toward that shelf instead of making a full running jump or dropping to the ground.

    Checkpoint: You land beside the nest against the cliff wall, below the upper platform.

    Do not misread: If you land at the bottom of the ravine, you passed the correct ledge and must loop back.

    Use the Feed or Interact prompt at the nest

    Move close to the eggs or chicks until your current client shows its contextual action. English references use both Feed and Interact wording; confirming that on-site prompt is the trigger for Skill Theft.

    Checkpoint: The bird-observation Skill Theft sequence begins from the nest.

    Do not misread: Do not leave to farm a named bird-food item unless your live client explicitly opens an item requirement.

    Time the prompts as the bird dives and rises

    Watch the timing indicator rather than guessing from the bird model alone. Use the control shown by your platform when the success ring reaches its target zone, and complete every prompt the sequence requests.

    Checkpoint: The Skill Theft sequence closes successfully and Talon Strike is added to Mystic Skills.

    Do not misread: Do not copy a fixed keyboard, controller, or mobile input from another platform.

    Check the collection, then equip the skill

    Open the Mystic Skill collection and confirm Talon Strike is learned. If there is no combat button, assign it to an available Mystic Skill slot; the unlock does not automatically replace your current loadout.

    Checkpoint: Talon Strike appears as learned and occupies a selected loadout slot.

    Do not misread: A missing button after collection ownership is an equipment state, not a failed bird route.

I cannot tell which bridge the guide means.

Use the full landmark set: south of Palace of Annals, a long hanging bridge over a deep drop, one isolated pillar-like island, a circling falcon, and masked Aureate enemies. A bridge without that cluster is probably the wrong approach.

The archers keep knocking me off.

Stop fighting from the middle of the planks. Clear them from range, pull them back toward solid ground, or wait until you can commit to the crossing. The unlock has no speed requirement, so a controlled approach loses nothing.

I searched the whole top of the pillar.

The nest is below you. From the far side of the bridge, climb the first short stairs, turn right to the outside cliff, point the camera down, and find the shelf against the rock wall.

I keep falling past the bird nest.

Do not sprint-jump. Stand near the edge, identify the shelf before moving, then step off and steer toward the rock. The old ledge screenshot on this page shows how tightly the nest sits against the cliff.

The nest is there, but Feed or Interact is missing.

Move closer to the eggs or chicks, clear combat aggro, rotate the camera until the nest is targeted, and reload the ledge. If the prompt still does not appear, retry in your own solo world.

The entire nest is missing.

First verify that you are on the intermediate shelf rather than the ground. A community report for the correct empty ledge was fixed by leaving online mode, so return to your own world and reload the area before assuming the unlock is lost.

A guide says to feed the birds, but I have no bird food.

Feeding is the contextual action at the nest, not evidence that you must begin a separate farming route. Stand beside the chicks or eggs and use the Feed or Interact prompt shown there. Only search for an item if your current client explicitly names one.

The bird timing keeps failing.

React to the on-screen timing indicator as the bird dives and rises instead of pressing at the start of the animation. Complete every prompt requested by the current sequence, then retry from the nest after a miss.

Skill Theft succeeded, but Talon Strike still looks locked.

Open the Mystic Skill collection and verify the current character. If it is truly locked, reload the area and repeat the nest sequence; if it is learned, the remaining issue is the active loadout rather than the unlock.

Talon Strike is learned, but I cannot cast it.

Assign it to a Mystic Skill slot. If every slot is occupied or still locked, use the slot guide instead of repeating the Palace of Annals route.

The old source lists 60/70 energy and a 30-second cooldown, while the current English reference reports a very different live skill state. That is exactly why this page preserves old route names and images but does not import old numeric combat values.
