Where Winds Meet Golden Body Unlock: Shi Yi Location

The route is short, but it has four separate gates: the right time, the right monk, an unseen Celestial Seize attempt, and the Golden Body Scroll itself. Use this thread to diagnose the exact state that failed.

Six-checkpoint route

Equip Celestial Seize, set the clock from Chen through Wu, find Shi Yi in the northeast garden of Grand Imperial Temple, and use Celestial Seize while he cannot see you.

Do not stop at a successful-looking cast. Confirm that the Golden Body Scroll entered your bag or that Golden Body appears as learned. If the item was taken but never cultivated, use the inventory recovery in the state checker below.

    Learn and equip Celestial Seize

    Golden Body is taken from an NPC; normal dialogue cannot claim it. Finish the Foul Play route, confirm Celestial Seize is learned, and place it in an active Mystic Skill slot before traveling to the temple.

    Checkpoint: Celestial Seize is visible and usable on your active loadout.

  2. 02

    Set the clock between Chen and Wu

    Current route references place Shi Yi at the temple from the Chen period through Wu, covering morning into roughly midday. Set the time first so you are not searching an empty garden.

    Checkpoint: The current in-game period is Chen, Si, or Wu.

  3. 03

    Enter the northeast garden of Grand Imperial Temple

    Travel to Grand Imperial Temple in Kaifeng and move toward the northeast side of the garden complex. The older map calls the location Daxiangguo Temple; it is the same route under a legacy label.

    Checkpoint: You are in the bamboo and stone-statue garden, not the main hall.

  4. 04

    Identify Shi Yi, the young training monk

    Look for the young monk practicing alone in the garden. Older notes write the name as 釋一 or Shiyi; current English references use Shi Yi.

    Checkpoint: The selected NPC is Shi Yi rather than another temple monk.

    Use Celestial Seize before Shi Yi sees you

    Move behind Shi Yi or outside his view, target him, and cast Celestial Seize. The documented route requires an unseen attempt. If the scroll does not appear, clear the alert state and retry; no reliable exact success rate is published.

    Checkpoint: The Golden Body Scroll is obtained, not merely a cast animation.

    Confirm the skill, use the scroll if necessary, then equip it

    Golden Body normally becomes learned after the scroll is obtained. If Shi Yi no longer carries it but the skill remains locked, check Bag > Develop for the yellow scroll or note and use the available Cultivate action; that recovery is community reported, so the live menu label may differ. Then place Golden Body in a Mystic Skill slot.

    Checkpoint: Golden Body is learned and assigned to an active slot.

Cast success is not item proof

Celestial Seize can animate without resolving the route the way you expect. Check the scroll or learned-skill state after every attempt.

Item ownership is not equipment

The scroll, permanent skill, and active combat slot are separate states. Diagnose them in that order instead of repeating the theft blindly.

Bag > Develop is a recovery report, not a universal UI promise

Players have recovered a stolen-but-unlearned Golden Body scroll by selecting its yellow note in the Develop inventory tab and choosing Cultivate. Use this only after confirming the item is no longer on Shi Yi; future localization can rename the tab or action.

Stuck fixes

Most failures happen before the scroll becomes a learned skill.

Change the in-game period to Chen, Si, or Wu before searching. Current references place him in the morning-to-midday window, not at night.

I am at the temple but cannot find the correct garden.

Move to the northeast garden with bamboo, stone figures, and a small training path. The old screenshot is useful for terrain; do not follow its Chinese map text as a current coordinate.

Celestial Seize is not available.

Golden Body depends on permanent Celestial Seize ownership. Complete Foul Play at Heaven's Pier, then equip the skill before returning to Shi Yi.

Celestial Seize is learned but the button is not active.

Check the active Mystic Skill loadout. A learned skill that is not assigned to a slot cannot be used on Shi Yi.

Shi Yi sees me before the theft.

Disengage, break line of sight, and wait for the alert state to clear. Approach from behind or from the bamboo-side cover before targeting him again.

The animation succeeded but I got no Golden Body Scroll.

Inspect the bag first, then retry after resetting the stealth state. Current references describe a high chance, not a published guarantee or exact percentage.

Shi Yi no longer carries the item, yet the skill is still locked.

A reported recovery is to open Bag > Develop, locate the yellow Golden Body scroll or note, and use Cultivate. Treat the exact tab and action label as a live-client check.

Golden Body is learned but missing from my controls.

Equip it in a Mystic Skill slot. Unlocking a skill does not automatically replace one of your current combat buttons.

An old guide sends me to Daxiangguo Temple for Formless Golden Body.

That is the same route. Use Grand Imperial Temple, Golden Body, Shi Yi, and Celestial Seize in the current Global client.

Cast before predictable pressure

Golden Body is a Shield skill. Its practical value comes from entering a dangerous sequence already protected, so use it before a boss burst or a committed melee exchange when you can read the timing.

Limit: This is timing guidance from the skill mechanic, not a promise that every boss attack can be ignored.

Protection ends with the shield

The current effect grants Fortitude and damage reduction while the shield holds. If the shield is removed early, the associated protection ends with it.

Limit: Read the live tooltip for current shield strength, duration, and reduction values.

Qi recovery supports the next action

Golden Body also restores Qi during the protected state. That makes it useful when you need to absorb pressure without giving up the resource needed for the next defense or counterattack.

Limit: It is not a substitute for managing Vitality, cooldowns, or weapon-specific resources.

Higher tiers change the job

Later breakthroughs add shield-expiry conversion and conditional nearby-ally protection. At that point Golden Body can shift from a personal safety button toward team support.

Limit: Team shielding has resource and condition checks; do not assume the solo tooltip describes every multiplayer cast.

Arena behavior changed in Version 1.7

The official May 28 notes cap Golden Body's Tenacity in Arena modes at four seconds and reduce the conversion of remaining Shield Value to HP when the shield expires. Do not copy a PVE tooltip, an older video, or a pre-1.7 shield calculation into an Arena recommendation.

No. Formless Golden Body and Wuxiang Jinshen are older translations of 無相金身; Golden Body is the current Global English name.

Why is Golden Body learned but not on my controls?

Was Golden Body changed in Version 1.7?
