Read the warning color, learn the complete attack string, break Qi on purpose, and open the focused guide only when you know which fight problem you actually have.
The warning color tells you what kind of defense the game expects.
Use this before opening a boss-specific route
Red means Perfect Parry. Gold or yellow means dodge. Once the boss's Qi is exhausted, use the opening for burst damage and take the Execute prompt when it appears. Most failed pulls become easier to diagnose once you stop calling every hit "bad timing."

Combat language
Four cues to read before you blame damage, gear, or latency.
No red or gold warning
Normal attack
Parry or dodge after reading the full animation.
Do not assume the first swing ends the string.
Red warning flash
Red attack
Use a Perfect Parry to turn the attack into an opening.
A normal guard is not the counter. Learn the impact beat.
Gold or yellow warning flash
Gold / yellow attack
Dodge it. Treat the move as unblockable.
Move out of the hit path instead of forcing a parry.
The boss enters a vulnerable state
Qi exhausted
Spend burst damage, then use Execute when available.
Save enough resources to exploit the break you created.
Choose the right route
First identify what kind of boss you are trying to reach.

Check first
Campaign boss
Inside a Campaign quest
Story progression, a first-clear fight, and repeat reward claims that may use Energy.
Confirm the active Campaign step before hunting the map.
World boss
At an open-world location
A location or trigger problem first, followed by a normal boss encounter.
Verify region, nearby landmark, and encounter trigger.
Quest boss
Only during a specific quest state
An NPC, branch, or objective must be active before the fight appears.
Read the quest log before assuming the boss is missing.
Challenge boss
Optional combat challenge
A tighter execution check where cue recognition matters more than route finding.
Check difficulty and modifiers before changing your build.
Mini-boss
Outposts, strongholds, or points of interest
A shorter encounter often tied to local completion or enemy clearance.
Clear surrounding pressure before committing to the leader.
A world-boss guide cannot fix a missing quest state, and a campaign walkthrough cannot prove that an old outdoor trigger is still live. Name the category before searching the boss name.
Seven-pull method
How to learn an unfamiliar fight without rebuilding after every death.
01
Name the fight state
Record the boss, category, difficulty, solo or co-op mode, and active quest step. A guide for the wrong version of a fight creates fake problems.
02
Use one observation pull
Stop chasing damage. Watch the opener, combo length, red and gold cues, gap closers, summons, and arena hazards.
03
Classify the move that hit you
Call it normal, red, gold, delayed, multi-hit, add, or hazard. The label determines whether you parry, dodge, reposition, or change target.
04
Learn the whole attack string
A successful first parry does not always end the sequence. Wait for the real recovery window before starting a long combo.
05
Attack Qi on purpose
Perfect Parry and sustained pressure should create an exhausted state. Plan your strongest safe damage for that opening.
06
Control the arena
Keep the camera useful, preserve dodge space, clear dangerous adds, and avoid letting walls turn a readable move into an off-screen hit.
07
Separate clear from reward farming
Campaign access, first-clear rewards, and repeat reward claims are different questions. Check Energy before repeating a fight for loot.
Focused guides
Open the page that matches the fight, not the broadest search result.
A red warning marks an attack that can be countered with a Perfect Parry. Read the impact timing; do not treat the warning as a normal block prompt.
What does a gold or yellow attack mean?
A gold or yellow warning marks an unblockable attack. Dodge out of the hit path instead of trying to parry or guard it.
When should I use Execute on a boss?
Create a vulnerable state by depleting the boss's Qi, spend safe burst damage during the opening, and use Execute when the prompt becomes available near the end of that sequence.
Do repeat boss rewards cost Energy?
Campaign progression, first-clear rewards, and repeat reward claims are separate. Current references note that later reward or Talent claims can use Energy, so check the in-game reward panel before repeating a fight.
Should I change my build after every failed pull?
No. First name the exact failure: cue, combo length, positioning, add priority, healing, or damage. Change the build only when the same mechanic still lacks a workable answer.
